Vitality Foundation Program
Is there a difference between health coaching and lifestyle coaching?
Not really. Health coaching and lifestyle coaching are terms used to describe a process of working toward your health and well-being goals. Some people may be more familiar with the term health coaching, while others may be more familiar with lifestyle coaching. The coaching I offer takes a whole-person approach, looking at your mind, body, work, relationships, and everyday life—and how these areas influence one another as you work toward your goals.
I feel a bit stuck, and I’m not sure what I want to change. Is coaching still right for me?
Absolutely. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to change before you start. Coaching gives you space to explore what feels stuck, gain clarity about what matters to you, and identify practical steps that fit your life.
I’m going through a life transition. Is health and lifestyle coaching right for me?
It can be. Major transitions—such as recovering from burnout, changing careers, or adjusting to life in a new country—can affect many areas of your wellbeing. Coaching can provide space to step back, understand what you need in this new chapter, and explore what you want your health and life to look like as you move forward.
If you’re experiencing a mental health condition or need treatment for a specific psychological concern, coaching may not be the right form of support on its own. In some situations, coaching can complement care from another healthcare professional.
Do you offer online or in-person coaching?
I primarily offer coaching online, giving you the flexibility to join sessions from wherever you are. In-person coaching is also available in Leiden, depending on the time that works for you and the availability of a suitable coaching space. If you prefer to meet in person, please let me know when you reach out, and we can explore what's possible.
What is the difference between coaching and psychotherapy?
Coaching is focused on helping you understand yourself, your patterns, and what may be getting in the way of the changes you want to make. This can include looking at past and present experiences, thoughts, emotions, and habits to better understand how they influence your health and life today. From there, coaching helps you gain clarity and explore practical ways to move forward towards your goals.
Psychotherapy, on the other hand, is a form of mental health treatment. It aims to address psychological conditions, trauma, and significant emotional distress. Coaching does not diagnose or treat these concerns. If past experiences or emotional difficulties are significantly interfering with your well-being or ability to make changes, working with a qualified mental health professional may be more appropriate. Coaching and therapy can also work alongside one another when they serve different needs.
Mindful Eating Program
What are the benefits of mindful eating?
Mindful eating can help you:
- Build a more flexible and confident relationship with food and eating.
- Become more aware of hunger, fullness, taste, and other signals while eating.
- Uncover the triggers and patterns behind stress- or emotion-driven eating.
- Develop new ways of responding to emotions and stress without relying on food.
- Learn practical, gentle nutrition principles that support your health and wellbeing.
- Explore how mindful eating and joyful movement can help you feel more connected to and comfortable in your body.
Can I still lose weight with mindful eating?
While weight loss might still be one of your ultimate goals, it is not the primary focus of this program. Instead, we focus on helping you develop a more balanced relationship with food and eating, tune in to your body’s signals, and build sustainable habits that support your health and well-being.
Research on mindful eating has found that some programs can be associated with weight loss, but individual outcomes vary.
Do I need any experience with mindfulness to start the program?
Not at all. No previous mindfulness experience is needed. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to explore the connection between your mind, body, and eating habits.
Is your mindful eating program evidence-based?
Yes. The program is inspired by the evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) approach, in which I am certified. I draw on mindfulness, nutrition science, and behavior-change principles to help you develop a more trusting and sustainable relationship with food.
Do you offer the program online or in person?
I primarily offer the program online, giving you the flexibility to join sessions from wherever you are. In-person is also possible in Leiden, depending on the time that works for you and the availability of a suitable coaching space. If you prefer to meet in person, please let me know when you reach out, and we can explore what's possible.
